Forgetting the things that I own

Forget the things that you own
And travel almost anywhere you can go
Dance across the tree tips, set them ablaze
Soaking in their pleasant warm summer haze

This song has been stuck in my head for 2 months. Forgetting the things that you own, for me means leaving the room I have, the TV, Movie collection, and my possessions. Traveling almost anywhere I can go is my dream. I've been to the east and west coast, Canada, Mexico, and Costa Rica. I want to go to Cuba, Europe, and Africa. I will go Someday. Dancing across tree tips would consist of me climbing trees. I will soak in the pleasent warm summer haze of LA.

Show people the world that's inside your head. No matter how bad, stupid, or weird you may sound show people who you are. BE REAL.

12 Months, 365 Days, 8,760 Hours...

A year ago there was this event going on in 100 cities across the globe called "The Rescue". It was through this organization called "Invisible Children". My good friend Orion was a roadie at that time and I knew that he needed his friends to support him and IC in raising awareness about the Children in Uganda. I went to the Rescue event in Chicago on the first day. It rained so I left early. Chicago was still holding out all week. I got a text from Orion saying he's coming to Chicago as a "Rescue Rider". I immediately jumped on the train downtown to meet up with him and 500 other people. It was so good to see him and the cause he was fighting for. Chicago eventually got rescued by Oprah.
Months later I was sitting with a friend when she said "Tyler you should get a screening for IC at streamwood." Yea Right is what I was thinking. I took a risk and set one up not knowing what will happen. My Roadie contact was Kelsey and she really did everything she possibly could to help me with the Screening. Our hard work paid off. Over 1800 students came to the screening and over $1000 was raised for IC. After that I was blessed enough to go to San Diego, See the IC office, and meet some really awesome people.
In between that time I had found out about LiNK, another non-profit advocating for peace in a 3rd world country. Only this time it's with an absolute dictator ruled country, North Korea. I applied for a summer internship and I got it!!!! In 2 months I'll be in LA. So Excited!!!!
I look back on the many blessings over the past year. It's crazy where life can take you. I don't know were I'll end up or who I'm gonna meet but I do know that I want to change the world. I had received a CD from my friend Kelsey and a song that's on it sums up my new beginnings. The song is called "Headlines". "I never thought I'd end up like this. It's hard to say it but I'm leaving all the things that I miss." I will miss my home but I'm stepping out of my comfort zone to help those in need.
